Born Pretty is one of those stores I'd heard of before, but not ever really browsed or considered it when buying beauty products before. I absolutely adore trying out new makeup/beauty products though (who doesn't??) and it's strange for me that I hadn't given them a little peep to be honest. So when they got in touch with me and asked if I wanted to try a few sample, I saw it as a chance to discover another new brand I might love (yay!).
In the post I was sent the Dazzling Eyeshadow Palette*, the Surprise Eyeliner and Eyebrow pen duo*, and the Sheet of Temporary Tattoos*.
The eyeshadow palette is made up of five colours, all glittery; bronze, black, gold, pink and blue. The pigmentation is great, and I found that this lasted really well on my eyelids. However, the application wasn't the easiest; the eyeshadow didn't blend too well for me and I foung the glitter particles to be too much, a slight shimmer would have been better. Especially with Christmas season coming up!
The eyeliner and eyebow combo was also a mixed bag of results for me; the eyeliner is amazing! It gives me the strongest, deep blackline, with a pen application that really improves my cat flicks. The other end though for the eyebrows? Awful. It was the wrong shade for me, much too dark. And if I'd have gotten a lighter shade, it would have meant a lighter eyeliner too; not good. So unless you want your brows and eyeliner the exact same shade, this won't work for you. Also, it was really like a pen in the sense of how it applied, which may have worked for the eyeliner - but it was awful for the brows. I like a soft and subtle brow, as realistic looking as can be; which I could not obtain with this product. I definitely love the eyeliner, and will be using it again; but the brow end will be ignored from here on out.
And lastly; the temporary tattoos. You may have seen me pop a photo of one of the feathers on my wrist on my Instagram. I absolutely LOVED these tattoos. They applied really easily and quickly, with no fuss at all. They are metallic and eye catching, adding a little pop of interest wherever you may fancy. I also really appreciated how long these lasted too! The one on my wrist lasted 2 full days without any smudging/falling away at all, and on the third day only had a slight loss. That's after a shower and washing my hands plenty too. Don't let this put you off in thinking they are hard to remove either; they simply wash away with a gentle scrub. Perfect! I would definitely love to purchase more of these.
I actually have a discount code of 'JEMH10' if you would like to get 10% off your order and try something today!
So there we have it; Born Pretty has some hits, some misses for me. What do you guys think, have you ever shopped with them? Let me know!
