3 Health Problems You Shouldn't Ignore

I'm one of those people that hates going the doctors. Like really, really hates going. I always think there's nothing much they can do for me anyway, or that I'm wasting valuable time - and in reality, I'm being really silly. I know this. It's probably just a little fear of mine that I try to ignore, and really shouldn't.

I'm trying to get better at this, after all I should be a 'grown up' by now, I'm not too far from thirty. So today I wanted to share with you the three health problem that you should definitely go see your doctor about, if you ever experience them. Let's be wise eh?

From niggling coughs to repeated headaches, there are a range of ailments that many of us put off addressing. Whether you’re too busy to take a trip to the doctors or you feel embarrassed at the thought of discussing your medical complaints, there are a host of reasons why you might delay getting help. However, there are certain health issues that simply can’t be ignored, and here are three examples.

Potential STIs

If you think you might have contracted a sexually transmitted infection (STI), it’s vital that you get checked out as soon as possible. No one wants to test positive for one of these infections, but being diagnosed and seeking treatment quickly can prevent a whole range of potentially serious problems further down the line. Many STIs are easily treatable, but if left to progress, can cause lasting damage. For example, chlamydia can lead to infertility if it’s not addressed in time. You can get tested for STIs at sexual health clinics and in some doctors’ surgeries. Certain tests are also available from online and high street pharmacies. For example, you can get tests for infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea and HIV from Lloyds Pharmacy Online Doctor. If you do test positive, a doctor or pharmacist will be able to recommend the best treatment options. In some cases, a simple course of antibiotics is all it takes to treat the infections.

Unexplained weight loss

Many of us want to lose a few pounds to get in shape, but if you start dropping dress sizes quickly and with no obvious explanation, it’s time to book yourself an appointment with a medical expert. Sudden weight loss can be a sign that something serious is wrong with your health. For example, it can be a symptom of chronic medical conditions like an overactive thyroid gland or coeliac disease. Some cancers can also result in weight loss in their later stages. Given these risks, it’s vital that you don’t simply ignore your changing shape.

A sore that won't go away

Sores on your skin might seem like a minor problem, but if you can’t seem to shift these blemishes, it’s time to take action. Unhealed sores can be a sign of a poor immune system and they can also indicate the presence of a disease like diabetes that impacts on the supply of blood around the body. In addition, they can be a result of skin cancers like carcinomas or melanomas. Your doctor should be able to run tests to confirm or rule out problems like these, so don’t hesitate to book an appointment.

Even if you have a packed schedule or you feel uncomfortable discussing medical problems, you shouldn’t ignore any ailments that could pose a danger to your long-term wellbeing.

So there we have it, some sound advice I think and something to remember myself for the future.. instead of wimping out.
