The Coffee Table Edit

coffee table accessories
Happy Tuesday guys! Let's hope the start of the week has been kind to you all. For me it's been a busy one already, but really nice (the girl gang chat last night especially brought a smile to my face!). I've been adding the finishing touches to our flat this week (after a bloody year of living here), with a new TV, a brand new sofa finally arriving this coming weekend, and starting to sort out my office once and for all.
It's starting to feel really homely around here, and I can't wait to give you a whole tour (hopefully) soon. However in the meantime, I wanted to show you some sneak peeks of how I've been updating little parts of our home, and adding small finishing touches to places to give them a little more style, hopefully!

I'll be doing these sort of posts every so often now, and I hope you enjoy seeing snippets of my home and where I live/how I organise things, because I've wanted to do this for so long! :) If that's not your thing, that's fine! However for you other homely geeks out there, today I wanted to chat about my coffee table.

Your coffee table Jemma?! Yes. A bit blah? I don't think so. I love seeing the trinkets and pretty features people have around their home, and today I've been feeling pretty proud of my lil table.

As you can see, It's sporting a fresh and pretty marble look at the moment. I didn't fork out a lot though, no no no. I have the cliche Ikea white coffee table, and I bought a marble vinyl sheet wrap 'thingy' to go over the top. I got a huge roll from Wilkos for just £5 and lined it all up neatly, stuck it down and it's stayed in place beautifully since. Yaaay.

As for the pretty accessories? I had some help from the lovely JOY. Upon first view you might focus only on the beautiful clothes they have to offer, but delve a little deeper into their Home & Gifts section and you might find some special goodies like I did.

I picked up the pretty copper pot which I thought would be nice to keep small flowers in, yes even fake ones! I also picked up two PERFECT coffee table reads; the Vogue colouring book (classy, stylish and FUN all in one) and the 'Calm' book I've been eyeing up forever from Michael Acton Smith. I love seeing the books people keep out on display, especially interactive books like this. I can open them up whenever I'm chilling out or taking a break from work, and get lost in them for hours.

There's also nothing better in my opinion, than pretty trinkets around the house. Which is why for my coffee table's new look I wanted some special accessories too. My new sunglasses and the ADORABLE elephant jewellery holder seemed perfect.

I have to be honest, I chose the jewellery holder because I always take my rings and necklaces off after a long day, and just dump them on the table otherwise. And of course, then they go missing or get squished under books and forgotten about for while. So this way, I still get to be lazy and dump them; but in a much more stylish fashion, and I always know where they are. I just feel like it adds a little extra something, too.

My next feature might be my completed office, my bookshelves, or even my makeup storage. What would you like to see?
