#NWMeet Blogger Event

As a lot of you may have already read from my recent post, I had quite a hectic time on Saturday getting to and from the #NWMeet blogger event in Liverpool. However, I had an absolutely amazing time while at the event, all arranged by the brilliant Sam & Katy by the way. The girls thought of everything to make this event perfect, and I know everyone had an awesome day. (Sorry this is gonna be long and photo heavy!).

The event was held at The Secret Warehouse in Liverpool, and was beyond beautiful! The décor throughout the whole place was stunning from the moment we walked in. It had a beautiful, spacious feel about the whole place, kitschy items on the walls, a meditation room, and a rooftop terrace. AMAZING. We didn't have any clue the event was being held here, and we were just given a set of directions to follow from Sam & Katy (of which I ignored and just followed everyone else, as you do). Once arriving at this huge, brick building; we had to give in our top secret passwords into the intercom (soz can't share the password, too secret!) to be allowed upstairs.

FACEB4 - From Makeup Revolution

Makeup Revolution are one of my personal favourite brands out there, and they have shaken up the beauty world in the past year or so, for good reason. Known for their high quality products, and exceptionally affordable prices, I was very excited when I heard of their new range of skincare products, under the brand 'FACEB4*'. A new face wash and serum duo to combat breakouts, at only £14.99 each - I was definitely keen to give them a try as soon as possible!

The antibacterial face wash is a combination cleaner and toner with a dual pump that disperses together, to give a soft and gentle foam. I've been applying this gently over my whole face, especially concentrating on areas prone to break outs (for me this is my jawline/chin) and then ringing with warm water. I haven't noticed any scent at all with this formula, which is nice. The last thing I want is to feel like I'm putting something on that will irritate my skin. This formula is super gentle, and leaves my skin feeling soft and supple. I'd consider this a very gentle cleaner though, so bear that in mind if you feel you need something a little stronger.

Afterwards when I had dried my face off, I used the FaceB4 Antibacterial Serum to moisturise. I noticed I only needed a very small amount, which was more than enough to cover my whole face and neck. So it's definitely a budget friendly product! Only £14.99 and will last forever. It settled into my skin nicely, and left it feeling moisturised without being oily at all. I actually really liked this! I do tend to have an oily t-zone especially, but this felt as if it 'evened out my skin' effectively, if that makes sense?
The only downside to this product for me was the packaging. It just all seems a bit clinical for me. I'd have loved this to just seem a little more luxurious, especially since I found the actual products so nice. Try not to let this put you off though, as I really do think this would be a great gentle product for most skin types.
Let me know if you've tried this yet, or if you plan to?
At the moment Makeup Revolution have an introductory offer on; when you buy the face wash, you get the serum free too! Bargain. Hurry though, this offer is only on until 28th September.
Thanks guys, have a great day!

The Truthful Tale Of The Blogger Attending An Event

There once was a blogger called Jemma. She was someone who enjoyed writing about all her favourite things, and sharing them on her blog for all to see. Blogging had brought her great friends, and she loved making new ones all the time.

One day, she was invited to the #NWMeet blog event in Liverpool, and was very excited to meet even more bloggers and have another great experience. She was counting down the days until she could see old friends and make new ones. It was going to be a fabulous day, as she knew a lot of effort had gone into it by two very awesome ladies.

So she had it all planned out.
She was going to choose the perfect outfit. She was going to do her makeup like never before. She was going to look her very very best. She was going to arrive early. She would be sweet and friendly to everyone, and remember everyone's names. She would make sure she was graceful and elegant and left everyone with a great impression. She had it all planned...

However, the story all goes a bit wrong here for Jemma.
Instead of having her perfect little outfit planned; she leaves it until last minute, claiming that she'll find something in her wardrobe on the day. Instead of getting up early and being ahead of schedule; she wakes up to the cat putting it's bum in her face and panicking, realising she'd overslept. She races around throwing any clothes on without even checking if they look okay, and literally slapping some makeup on her face. Her hair is a mess of curls, but there's nothing she could do about that. She leaves the house wayyy behind on schedule and worries that she may have forgotten something. (She has. She's forgotten many things.)

She's walking to the meet up place to meet all the other girls, when she realised something AWFUL. She was due on her period that very same day. Brilliant. So she stops at the local shop to pick up some ladies products, just in case she may need them. Unfortunately the nice shop attendant didn't understand much English. And so, Jemma had to resort to shouting 'TAMPONS!' and pointing wildly. Not so elegant.

After that, it was a race to meet everyone at the train station. She of course, got there very late and gave everyone a rushed 'Hello!' and gave an overall sense of frazzled-ness rather than the graceful impression she was going for. In fact, she swore quite a bit and told everyone her period story. Great!

The event itself was amazing, and Jemma actually had the time of her life. Unfortunately she made everyone see she's a fan of a drink (too much) and there is nothing graceful about her. She was loud, and brash.. and probably the most Scouse person there. Even at a Liverpool event. But it was okay, everyone was wonderful, lovely, kind and understanding. In fact, some of the laughs might have been WITH her, rather than at her. (But who can really tell??)

After a long, lovely day it was time to go home. Jemma was fortunate enough to have found someone kind enough to offer her a lift home in their car too, amazing! After all, lugging all those bags all the way home on the train and the long walk wouldn't be fun.
So off they popped in the car...

...Only to reach Jemma's home in less than two minutes.
Yes that's right.
The event was two minutes away from Jemma's fucking house and she didn't even realise. She had gotten the train to the event like an idiot.

She sighed.
Some things never change.

:)

(This was the best day of Jemma's whole blogging experience! But thought you might all want an insight into just how hopeless her day to day life actually is! Look out for my 'proper' event post soon with goody bag details!)

Friday Five 7#

Five things that always make me laugh;

1. This memory- Walking into the wrong lecture theatre at Uni with my best mate. Queue screaming laughter when we only realised TEN MINUTES later.

2. Titus from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

5. His face:-

Five things beginning with J that are awesome (apart from me, obvz!);

1. Jennifer Lawrence.

2. Jellies (mostly Haribo).

3. Jack's Mannequin.

4. Jagermeister.

Comic Review: 3 Parts Mad

Every now and again I'm lucky enough to have something particularly special make it's way through my mailbox. Recently this was a beautiful collection of artwork, stories and poetry, in the form of unique and impressive comic; '3 Parts Mad'. This comic is written by Josh Moorby and illustrated by Sarah Docker. You guys might already know I'm a comic book fan, so I was excited to add to my collection.

Upon receiving this comic in the mail, I felt like I'd been gifted with something incredibly special. The packaging and presentation were all beautifully done, with every detail showing how much hard work and care had been taken, to ensure each one was perfect.

3 Parts Mad is made up of short stories, poetry, flash fiction and stand alone art. Sarah and Josh have created something different to show their unique talent, and prove that creativity is not exclusive in any way. From the way the comic is illustrated, (all hand drawn/painted without digital creation), to the range of varied content; 3 Parts Mad is an assemblage of very unique art forms celebrated in the one package.

I found this comic almost seductive in the way it pulled me in and held my interest. I found it fascinating turning each beautiful page (printed on amazing quality paper I should mention) and discovering something new each time. The raw, messy imagery displays such passion, and is my personal favourite type of illustrative design too.

3 Parts mad is a comic full of promise, heart, raw emotion and creative exploration. I can't wait to see what's next. If you'd like to join this journey and support amazing creatives; you can shop 3PM here, or follow them on Twitter here.

September Goals

notebook desk blogging fairy lights
Hello September, I love you!
It's officially the start of Autumn, which means I am absolutely filled with excitement for rainy days, dark nights, falling leaves, and candles. Autumn is my favourite season, if you didn't know. So I'm feeling even happier than usual, which also helps my motivation. So what better than to start the month planning out my goals?

1. To try somewhere/something new.
Whether it be exploring my city a little more, or simply trying out a new restaurant; I want to say I've done something new! Maybe I'll write about it here if so.

2. To get my merch in store.
I've been finding suppliers, designing like crazy, and making cute things behind the scenes. I can't wait for them all to be in store for everyone to see!

3. To read something new.
I'm already finishing off a book, in eager anticipation to start the latest Millenium release (The Girl in the Spiders Web). I've waited so long for this book, I'm so excited to get stuck into it!

4. Start planning for Christmas.
Oh god please don't kill me for mentioning the C word! It's just that every single year I leave everything to the last minute; presents, decorations, cards. This year I'd like to be on top of my game and that means starting to plan/buy now.

5. Get my DIY on.
I've already got quite a few fun DIY's planned for this month and next, yay! I love doing DIY posts so much, so keep an eye out for some creative Autumn themed ones.

What are your goals for September?
