Vera Wang Glam Princess

I've always had a special fondness for Vera Wang's original 'Princess' perfume; it was something I adored anyway but because my dad used to always buy me it, I now associate it with him. It's a lovely way to remember him, and each time I get a whiff of that scent I'm flooded with memories. It's lovely the way scents can have that power.

So when I recently spotted this Vera Wang Glam Princess perfume at Home Bargains for only £19.99 (for 100ml!) I was pretty excited to try it.

This fragrance boasts top notes of redcurrant, juicy guava and pear followed by a heart of orange blossom and vanilla orchid. Base notes reveal ambrette seed, sugar marshmallow and soft cashmere wood. When I smell it I can really get a hint of that orange blossom and the soft cashmere wood, which actually compliment each other really well. I really liked this one; sweet, but not overpowering. When I was chatting to Gary about it, we both agreed it smelled like 'warm Summer' whatever the hell that means. So Summer, but in the evening. Not overpowering flowers, but more sunsets and fruit by the fire. Maybe? Maybe I'm talking shit. Either way, I like it.

I think this scent is a wonderful one to use over the last part of Summer (come on, English Summer never lasts that long) before we bring in Autumn. Also, it looks pretty damn beautiful on my dresser.

If I had to choose, I'd still say I adore the original 'Princess' from Vera Wang slightly more, but let me know what you think if you've tried this?

Have a great week! <3

5 Things I Won't Miss About Summer

I've made it no secret that I'm an Autumn/Winter girl at heart, so although there are some good things about Summer to appreciate; I'm very happy it's not going to be around for much longer. Let's face it, England has already experienced plenty of rainy/grey days lately, yay! Yes that's right; I love it.
So here's my top five things I'm happy to say goodbye to for another year...

1. Sunshine Guilt.
Do you ever really look forward to your day off, so you can enjoy staying in pj's, getting some blogging done, maybe having a Netflix binge; only to see its a glorious, hot day outside which you're not taking advantage of? Everyone has plans for the beach, the fair, or something or other, and you feel guilty sat in your knickers pressing play on another episode of Pretty Little Liars. Sod you people, I don't care if the sun is out! I'm playing INSIDE today!

2. Summer Colours.
I don't know why I do it, but every year you can guarantee I give in to Summery colours as pressured by advertising, the high street and even other bloggers! It doesn't occur to me to stick to cooler, darker tones for my makeup and clothes since they suit me SO MUCH BETTER. Nope, I'll go for the orange and yellow dress please. Oh and a new Summer palette from my favourite makeup brand? Of course I'll have it! Doesn't matter if I never wear it (or look like a washed out idiot if I do!).

3. The Sweat (sorry!).
Yep, there's no getting around this one and I know its gross. But basically everything is always clammy, you never feel quite as comfortable as you could, and public transport is a cesspool of disgusting smells. We could all do without this, yes?

4. The Bugs.
Oh dear god this is the worst part for me I think. I am absolutely terrified of spiders, and I hate any bugs in general anyway; so Summer is a constant battle. All of the bugs seem to come out of hiding and insist on ruining my day. The worst bug moment of 2015 so far? There was a spider on my towel when I got out the shower, and it was HUGE. Cue me lashing the towel and running around the flat naked screaming my head off. Yes really. Moving on from that mental image...

5. Sleeping.
I absolutely love when it's cold enough to get wrapped up in the blankets like an Eskimo and have Gary spoon me (whether he likes it or not..), but Summer just makes this impossible. You can barely take the heat anyway so blankets are a no no, and if you have windows open you run the risk of bugs getting in! Grr.

Basically I love the rainy, windy days, the grey skies, the thunder and lightening and even sometimes the snow that we experience in England in Autumn/Winter. Bring it on!

What do you guys think? Are you loving Summer right now, or are you excited for it to be over, like me? :) Let me know!

All The Colours Of The Rainbow

As often happens, I found myself recently browsing cute kawaii stores on Ebay, hoping upon a bargain or two. Amongst a store that sold me all the Totoro merch I could ask for, I saw these pretty pops of colour shining out; a vast array of the brightest nail varnishes you could imagine.

Obviously I had to snap them up and give them a go; any excuse to buy anything colourful, am I right? They do need two coats to really shine through, but after that you can see 'em for miles! Anyway, they were cheap as chips so I'm rather happy. I'm not a very Summery person (I much prefer Autumn/Winter!), but I do love making the most of bright colours everywhere and it being (sort of) acceptable to have neon nails.

What little purchases have you made this week?

Tie Dye Fun

This week I've been as creative as ever, except I've been working with old clothes rather than paints and canvas. The nice chaps over at Dylon kindly sent me a bunch of dyes to take advantage of in any way I saw fit, and since it's almost Summer I thought a boost of colour is just what I needed.

I found a few old clothes I had hanging around that I was kinda bored of, and decided to give them a little bit of life.

The instructions on the back of each packet made things super easy especially for someone like me. I have a short attention span and if things get too complicated, I get bored. Basically I mixed the powder dyes with water, and then applied it to my clothing in two different ways. With the tops, I twisted them around from the center and quickly tied some rubber bands around them (okay I didn't have rubber bands, so I used old hair bobbles!). Then I used a pipette (yes I just so happened to have one) to add drops precisely where I wanted them, varying in colour.

The second type of application was to fill the sink with the dye solution, and dip the ends of my shorts in. I dipped them half way in, and then left the very ends hanging over the sink for an hour, to really seep in.

I am so, so happy with the results! I've never dyed anything myself before and I can't believe I've been missing out on something so easy.

The swirl patterns turned out awesome and my shorts are so much prettier! They were a washed out light blue before, and now they have a deep bluish/slightlyviolet ombre. (Tip- I mixed a little of the pink and blue together to achieve a lovely purple) I feel so ready for Summer!

I will definitely be buying dyes from now on and I'm already obsessing over what else I can customise in my wardrobe. Also for anyone considering buying any of the fabric dyes, they go a long way. One sachet did well enough for multiple items of clothing, so it's a good idea to plan out beforehand if there's other clothing you want to do in the same colour.

Hope you guys enjoyed this!
Let me know if you've ever tried dying your clothes or customising in any way?

The Easiest Milkshake Ever

It's probably well known by now that I am no expert in the kitchen (which I am totally okay with). However this week I've managed to whip up something that even Gary was impressed with. What fine dining experience did I manage to conquer you ask? Well okay, just a milkshake. But that's a big deal for me guys! Haha.

Take a few scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream, add some milk, mash up some bars of Milkyway and add a little chocolate sauce on top, add it all into a blender for 60 seconds - and hey presto! We have a beautiful, yummy, tempting treat for the Summer.

Yummy!

Have you got any easy milkshake ideas I could try? :)
