Perspective

The best, most unexpected thing happened at around 1am Monday night (or technically morning..) when I was browsing through one of my Keri Smith books. If you don't know Keri Smith, go google her. She creates beautiful books/journals for you to work in, mess up, and open up your creative side. Anyway, I've had this particular book, 'Mess' for so long I forgot some of the entries I made in it.

I was flicking through it when I found this particular page below, instructing you to make a list of all your current problems, as a sort of mental release.

And it seems I had filled the page with things that were bothering me, upsetting me or causing me pain. And that's when it hit me - almost all of these problems are gone! You have no idea how amazing this feels to know I've already overcome so much.

I immediately grabbed a pen and began scribbling out each problem I had gotten over, and it felt like the most emotionally satisfying thing ever. Now the perfect photographs would have been one before and after I crossed them out, as a kind of symbolism for this blog post. But lets get real, that's not how real life works haha.

There is only one thing I couldn't cross off the list, and it pains me that I'll never be able to. But that's also just life again.

I hope you guys don't mind me recording this little moment, but the perspective this has given me is invaluable. It just shows that things sometimes feel like huge problems that will never end, but it won't always be so. It will end.

Things will work out and you'll be okay.

  5. What a wonderful idea of doing this! Some time in the future many of the problems that we have now may be just a distant memory. Well done on overcoming so many difficult situations and good luck with the future! xx

  7. One of my favorite posts of yours. So lovely. I always make sure when feeling down to think, 'will this still be valid in a week, month, year' etc and it is a great way to help me worry less.
It isn't always possible to eradicate all sadness but it helps us appreciate the happiness more. It's great that you are able to cross things off and forget about those worry's.
