6 Things I Hate About Facebook

There are so many social media channels and platforms out there, sometimes it's hard to keep up with them all. Usually one or two favourites rises up for each of us. The ones we spend more time on, that make us feel happiest, or maybe more creative.

Today however I thought I'd chat to you guys about my absolute worst. The social media channel I loathe, basically, but still have. Join me in this Facebook hate fest wont you?

Here are 6 reasons I only log in once a week and barely stay on for more than two minutes.

Beginners Pinterest Guide

Pinterest Guide

I'm a bit of a Pinterest obsessive, it's fair to say. I have 57 boards and almost 6000 pins over on my Pinterest, and I'm sure it'll just continue to grow to be honest. I always liked collecting, even as a kid. Whether it was stickers, Mr Men books, or Pogs. These days I'm still in the habit of collecting, except now it's a digital version, in the form of pinning.

I love the organisational side of Pinterest, it really satisfies me. I love putting everything into categories, and then saving things for later. Even if sometimes 'later' never comes (who can really say they're ever gonna do ALL the cool DIY pins they save?). I like knowing I have this huge source of information, ideas, inspiration and visuals sitting there ready for whenever I want.

Today I thought I'd share with you a little of my favourite things from my Pinterest, and some little tips; in the hopes that you'll find this as fun as I do. If you're new to Pinterest, this might even help spark your interest or give you some idea of the possibilities with it.

Firstly, let me begin by sharing my five rules for my own Pinterest, and how I organise it all. (Remember, this is just my opinion!)

30 Days Social Media Challenge

30 Day Challenge social media

There's nothing I love more than a good old 30 day challenge, they're so fun! If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll know that I actually have a board just for 30 day challenges. They're my thing. 30 days seems like a great amount of time to try something new, shake up a routine, or battle a challenge. It's not too long that it seems impossible, but it's enough of a challenge to to pique your interest, or it is for me anyway.

So since I have this obsession anyway, I thought why not make my own?! But what to do it on....? Social media of course. I live and breathe social media, which makes this perfect for me. But there are areas of social media I'd love to improve, or try new things on too. Plus sometimes it's just a great excuse to change up a routine and have some fun, which I think I definitely need right now.

So, fancy joining in this challenge with me? You'll find a list of daily challenges below, so feel free to pick and choose them as you like. And even if you guys don't do them all, that's fine. Maybe this will simply give you some ideas for different social media techniques you could use, or new things to try.
Either way, have fun with it!

The Power Of Blogging And Social Media

Writing has always been an escape for me. An experience of pure joy, honesty, relief or inspiration. Ever since I was a little girl who would get carried away writing stories in school, to feel so proud when the teachers would tell me how imaginative they were, to hear them read aloud to the class as examples; writing has always been a good thing to me. A necessary and wonderful thing which shaped me into who I am.

With the technological developments that have happened since I was much younger, and sharing your writing with the world being such a normal thing now, it was kind of obvious that I'd delve into blogging I guess. And as much as I love it, even more than ever; today I wanted to talk about some of my worries about writing.

I don't have anywhere near the audience of some people, obviously. I'm just a girl from Liverpool who sometimes has some people follow her and keep up with her blog posts. I know that, I just needed to say that before I go into this next part okay? I'm not trying to suggest I'm some bloody superstar over here, LOLZ. But lately, I'm more aware of what I write about, and the people who are viewing these words all across the world. I was recently featured in my local paper, and my old co-workers got in touch with me to say they'd seen it. I share my blog posts on my Facebook, where family and friends can click and visit this blog any time they like. I have almost 10,000 people following me on Twitter, and almost 5000 on Instagram. When a new blog post goes live and I promote it on these social accounts, I can see the numbers going up. I can almost feel the eyes on my blog in those moments.

This is a fantastic and amazing thing, something that continues to inspire me. After all, it's what I want... isn't it?

Using Twitter Analytics

Using Twitter Analytics

Did you know I'm obsessed with Twitter? No? Don't be silly, of course you did. I practically live on that platform, and you can usually find me on there day or night tweeting away about something or other. It's my little online home (apart from this blog of course).

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to win the Best Social Media award at the Bloggers Blog Awards in Leeds, for my Twitter account. Now, I still insist that I won this because I'm simply online all the time; rather than put out great social content. I wish the latter were true, but I do feel the vote went to me by default for simply being active. There were other people shortlisted who (in my opinion) deserved it way more, had a lot more followers than me, and put out amazing/amusing/unique content. But I'm still feeling utterly grateful anyway that people voted for me, and I still can't quite believe it.
